Homefront Activities
With these activities Home-Base Support offers more support to soldiers on missions abroad, especially to their family, and to veterans. Initially the services and products delivered by the PIT foundation will be continued.
Dairy soldiers
In 2009 we supply the renewed diary to all soldiers who are going on a mission. This modern diary with reflection texts offers enough space to jot down their experiences, and emotions.
Diary homefront
But not only the soldiers receive this diary: so do their partner or parents, so that they too can write about their experiences during the time of separation. Our hope and expectation is that after a soldier returns, the diaries will be exchanged, and that this will contribute to them getting to terms with emotions, experiences, and lost time.
‘Pat on the back’ Another homefront activity is the distribution of thousands of letters and postcards with best wishes from Dutch citizens, to soldiers on missions abroad. Our partner organisation Koninklijke PIT Pro Rege invites citizens, clubs, churches, and schools, to show their involvement and respect for soldiers sent abroad by our government, irrespective of their own opinion about these missions.
Correspondence sets Every soldier departing for a mission receives a correspondence set, to stimulate the sharing of experiences and emotions with their homefront.
Pocket bibles The chaplains in the mission areas receive pocket bibles from Home-Base Support to distribute to soldiers for free. |
